A week of highs and lows

Came across a review on You Tube by Derek (Distro Tube). He has highlighted some issues with installers. Will not only try to clear up any confusion but also make changes that will help new users (in upcoming releases). Link to video If you want to install ArchBang i3 then use Abinstall (Super + i). A week of highs and lows

What an amazing week!!!!!

I am really surprised today ArchBang has had over 3500 downloads this week. An all time record. Have to blame (or thank) Matt at ArchLabs for letting users know of release. Think some comments were also made on Distro Watch. Never going to say ArchBang is perfect and it will always need more work Tried What an amazing week!!!!!

We are now at ‘Rc’ release

Uploading a new iso, have gone ‘rc’. Made a few changes: Dmenu colours now fixed, is now called directly from i3 config file i3status bar config is now in ~/.config (make it a little easier to find and modify) config_edit fixed (typo) TODO: Will mess around with keybinds in config at some point. Edit Guide We are now at ‘Rc’ release

Getting there

Been working on i3 version for a few days now and am very close to going ‘rc’. Have one more thing to fix in installer (already done). Highlights: Cbatticon.. a systray icon that shows battery or AC power. Changed Wallpaper, really not been out this past 9 months so have not taken any new photos. Getting there

Issue with latest release

Seems that there is an issue with latest release. Step 8 of installer is failing with a readline error. Am now rebuilding last weeks iso (Openbox based) to see if that fixes the error. I tested my i3 iso today and it installed fine under a VM. Am concerned if issue is related too UEFI, Issue with latest release

Installer Fix and more changes

Have fixed an error in abinstall (couple of typos I made). Made more changes to iso to remove openbox packages and related configs, installer etc. Have still much more work to do want to get a more green! theme going and add in more keybinds. Will work on adding i3lock at some point. For now Installer Fix and more changes

Time for a change

ArchBang has been Openbox based for over ten years. Over the next few weeks I will be working towards switching to i3 tiling window manager. May well run i3-gaps as I do not want to scare users into a my minimal setup 😉 Keybinds will change for some things, nothing dramatic and quite easy to Time for a change

Good news Bad news

Good news another week another iso, not really much has changed (package wise) over the week but I do like to keep things fresh 😉 Bad news my boss has tested positive and I have today had the test. Have lost my sense of smell. Spent last weekend trying to set my usb stick on Good news Bad news
