Another week a new iso. Refreshed packages and a minor tweak too tint2 config. Am thinking of adding archinstall to iso, as a way for users to do a ‘real’ archlinux install. This of course will not install ArchBang but gives user the chance to setup a working system that can easily be loaded with all the users requirements. First thing I need to do is is check how much it will affect the size the iso image. Archinstall is python based and have for many years avoided shipping it with iso for just one application. Also interested in if I can modify it to load ArchBang configs, my python skill are limited as I only really got as far as learning basic function and printing ‘Hello World’. That is all abinstall really does copy over iso image to new system and makes changes to suit new users selected username and password.
Could not figure out why iso image has reduced by 200mbs, until I read archlinux news. Some firmware has been split from kernel to reduce package size. If this has any affect on hardware you have then let me know. Will link to news item which can be found here. Might even be able to ship ArchBang with more applications.
