Over the past months I’ve been experimenting with SwayBANG, a Wayland-focused spin on my Arch-based projects. The idea was simple: bring together the minimalism of Arch with the tiling workflow of Sway, add a few carefully chosen tools, and wrap it all up in a clean ISO for others to try.
I’ve enjoyed putting the builds together – tweaking configs, testing themes, trimming down the ISO size, and trying to keep everything lean but still user-friendly. From Waybar styling to rofi menus, every detail was something I tinkered with until it felt right.
But after releasing and sharing a few images, it’s become clear that there isn’t much interest in SwayBANG beyond my own tinkering. And that’s okay. Not every side project needs to grow into something bigger. Sometimes it’s just about the learning process and the fun of building.
So I’ve decided that this will be the final SwayBANG image. I’ve uploaded the ISO for anyone who wants to give it a spin – whether to see what I built, borrow configs, or just boot into something a little different for a while.

I’m not closing the door on tinkering with Arch or Sway in the future – those will always be part of my workflow. But for now, SwayBANG will stay as a little side project that I enjoyed building, even if it didn’t find a wider audience.
Thanks to those who tested or gave feedback along the way. Onwards to the next experiment.
Stay safe 😉
