Just updated ArchBang iso image, latest kernel and packages no major changes.
Am working on a fourth ‘bang version code named GreenBANG. Was going to be my Omarchy like iso but without the huge package set. It had to be beautiful to look at, have a wealth of features out of the box but not get in the way from day to day stuff.
Did plan on using Hyprland but it really did not sit right with me, config is way to complex to figure out and in the end fell back on MangoWM does exactly what I need out of the box. Terminal wise had thought about using Kitty, but did not seem worth it live. Alacritty would be be enough but for testing using good foot!
File manager well Thunar is not the best looking, takes a lot of effort to theme so might try pcmanfm-qt and yazi.
For browser had thought about using Chromium, Firefox is my own preference so running with that at the moment.
DMS-Shell handles bar, notifications, wallpapers/theming, launchers. Might have a custom launcher method in DMS to allow a kind of main menu certainly work in progress. One thing I did not know about is DMS can not only handle many different gui menus and settings boxes it also has one for keybinds. So it was simple as wiring up Super+k to display binds in Mango.
Something it will include is a gui style basic installer. All it will do is install to a target drive as quickly and without too must fuss. Currently only four steps with a user only having to provide a username and password. Most users including myself want Archlinux installed as fast as possible but still have enough installed to get a user up and running post install. All this without the need of a working network connection.
Image size is at 1.5Gbs currently and still very much work in progress.
Still not had any donations to speak of over last month, if you can spare a dollar towards costs then it is all grateful.
As always any comments or feedback are welcome.
Stay safe…..
