Been a busy couple of weeks. Was away the last two weekends so didn’t get much done on ISO images. So decided to update all three images: MiniBang [sugar free], ArchBang [some candy but too heavy] and Fruitbang [full sugar version].
FruitBang includes an interesting extra feature: DANK Material Shell. It handles a lot of the desktop side features — bar, launcher, notifications, login screen — and also handles backgrounds. It’s really feature-rich and point-and-click, more like an XFCE4 or near-Plasma experience.
Labelled the image as ‘rc’ as DMS isn’t fully wired in yet and does have some rough edges, but try it out and see what you think.
ArchBang has had some changes to the installer. Most of the feedback I’ve had relating to it is that it has too many options. So I’ve added auto partitioning and reduced the location/layout options. Might need some more work, but I do know it works, so if you need to make changes post install then please let me know.
MiniBang is a minimal i3-based [yes, Xorg] image that should work on low RAM systems. It comes with i3 and a terminal and not much else. Has zram set up to give a little more headroom while live, but don’t expect to run Firefox [at least not live] at such a low RAM level. At 900MB it makes an ideal rescue ISO image that you can, of course, install Arch from if you wish.
Have removed Opencode AI from the ISO images as I don’t think anyone is interested in it. Other than that, all images are pretty much up to date.
If ArchBang, FruitBang or MiniBang are useful to you, please consider a small donations — it really does help keep things going.
Please feel free to contact me if you are having any issues, suggestions or just want to say hello.
Stay safe 😉
