Another week a fresh iso and testing archinstall

Just updating iso image as arch has just released a new kernel update, will upload very soon. I am thinking of testing archinstall as a way of installing ArchBang to a target device. It has never been an issue to install ArchBang as you do not even need a network connection to install. However it does mean iso needs to be as up to date as possible to not be greeted by a massive update. Also if iso is quite old any changes upstream in arch could cause an issue.

So if you do have a network connection then it would make sense to install latest and greatest packages during install. Will of course depending on network connection take a little longer, post install system will be as up to date as possible.

Archinstall can do most of the heavy lifting, figured I could add a profile that would possibly install required packages and configs either from iso or via gitlab source [only in testing stage at the moment]. Archinstall can already install a number of desktops/window managers by default so adding another hopefully is not a huge pain the rear.

A user will need to install archinstall [not a big deal] live and then run a single command. I need to do more research first but if it all goes wrong then I will look at putting a network install into abinstall. This would be at least for me far easier as I could just give a user the option or simply grab packages if a connection is found.

Will keep you posted, if anyone is interested in trying it out then please contact me 😉

Stay safe…
