Not really paid much notice of setting up sound in ArchBang as live I did not see it as such a high priority. To be of any real use you do need a working network connection. However with some user feedback decided to test sound set up in SwayBang and it works. Have now added this to ArchBang so unless you have some weird sound sound setup it should work out of the box. You also control volume via polybar icon using scroll wheel.
In other news I am thinking of creating a new ArchBang logo, got a simple idea in mind but the rub is I may not be able to use the word ‘Arch’. It comes down to Archlinux kind of owning the name. While I am going to ask for permission I feel they may decline as they do not want ArchBang to be related or maintained by Archlinux. Which I fully understand. Had dropped the old blue A logo a long time ago as Archlinux was not happy about me using it. To this end a good friend of mine also pointed out that /etc/os-release has ID=arch which again is a breach of trademark. This I have fixed today after some 15 years of using it.
The other reason for creating a new logo was to possibly have some simple merch. Stickers to Hoodies etc. This will not only promote ArchBang but also help fund the project in a small way. It will also simplify backgrounds and logos on other sites/forums etc.
Not the final design but something like it.
I do have a backup plan which I run past you all if I do not get permission. It will be a big change but will have far more freedom…
Sad news is that SwayBang has little or no real interest so I will not be updating image in the future, does however puts my focus back on ArchBang 😉
As always thanks for the support and feedback.
Enjoy the weekend
Stay safe 😉
