Small changes some you may even notice…

Sitting here with a cup of coffee going through ArchBang scripts with my new best friend CoPilot. Think it was more about making my random, sloppy code more readable. Hopefully they work the same as they did before. Have added coloured borders to Openbox windows, this is more to make active ones stand out more. My mind is thinking about a kind of Spring release with a even more modern theme, possibly Catppuccin colour way. Do know they have themes for rofi, openbox, alacritty…would simply need to add a wallpaper to the mix.

I have been replying to coffee donations, most of the messages that come with coffee are more about rescuing old laptops. The biggest problem with old laptops is more about the specification, storage and more importantly ram. Arch does say is will run on 2Gb of ram but it would have to be a pretty minimal system and you may need to run swap. On chromebooks unless it one of the older ones that have an SSD drive, emmc tend to be quite small 16Gb or if you are lucky 32Gb. If you have one like me that has 4Gb of ram, 32Gb of storage drive space starts to disappear if you have swap of 8Gb. I have a cunning plan to run part of system from a micro sd card as most chromebooks have a medias slot for an SD card. There you could add a directory for /home /usr/share /tmp and of course swap [partition or swapfile]. Am guessing a similar thing could be done on a old laptop, possibly even via a usb drive. One of the biggest ram using applications are a web browser, Firefox can use up to a gig on good day. Sure a lighter browser would be good but then you start have less features.

Think a new kernel is around the corner will get something built by the end of today [Sunday], if kernel does appear I will update in the week.

Thanks once again for all the coffee, please keep them coming I do work better with caffeine….

Stay safe 😉
