Bringing ArchBang back to life….

I do not think Xfce4 version of ArchBang is really that popular. Many users prefer using ArchBang running Openbox. I only changed to Xfce4 as I was finding it more difficult to maintain tint2 panel as I was having problems with it. Turns out issue was more to do with lxsession [something I am looking into to] Openbox just works but needs support when it comes to things like panels, launchers, system tray, notifications.

So I decided to try a different panel that I had kind of tried before but never got it configured as I wanted. Polybar has most of the features of tint2. Does come with many inbuilt modules for things like Volume, Cpu usage, Ram, Disk space etc. Personally like to run a system tray for important stuff like networking, power etc.

Have added launchers to panel for Firefox, Terminal, Thunar File Manager too. This is what ArchBang looks like when running it:

Have given it a green theme for now, more so I can get it configured.

It does take a lot of time to figure out settings for things like panels and themes. Thank goodness for bash aliases as I have no idea how many times I have edited rc.xml openbox configuration file 😉

Still very much work in progress but hope to get something uploaded in a few days.

Stay safe 😉
