I only changed to Xfce4 as I was finding it more difficult to maintain tint2 panel as I was having problems with it. I have added Openbox and Obconf to packages in ArchBangX. Old users of ArchBang do of course miss Openbox window manager. For now there is no configs or old setup under ArchBangX. Arch has had a kernel update so have rebuild iso image to more up to date, uploaded and ready to go …. One thing I did notice was that my custom wallpaper was not being set correctly. This might be because I test iso images under Virtualbox. Anyway Joe at EndeavourOS came to the rescue … New kernel update and a possibly a small fix….
Been a few weeks since last release of ArchBangX, seems to be doing ok. Have included latest kernel on this image 6.11-2. No other real changes just mostly package updates. Downloads of iso are doing ok, not had any real feedback to speak of. Have got a kind of sway version of ArchBang working but … A quick iso update to include latest kernel…
I think ArchBangX is doing well, downloads are good and so far no negative feedback. Couple of points I need to address as regards to installation. First and very importantly post install you do need to set up pacman-keys and refresh archlinux-keyring, very important for package signing. Have made quite a few changes to ArchBangX ‘beta’, more happy now with the look and feel. Panel now features launchers for Firefox,Terminal and Thunar file manager. Removed icons from desktop. I have been quietly working on a new iso. As I now have more time to mess around with ArchBang decided to give xfce4 a try. Out of the box it has all the things you need, panel, menus, icons, settings etc. Early days yet so consider this ‘beta’ Abinstall should work, not had time … Introducing ArchBangx…
Recent update to Virtualbox meant I can no longer run Wayland based images under it. So I thought I would try some other virtual machines out there. Virt-manager is quite high on the list and is basically a gui wrapper for Qemu. And while not as simple to use as Virtualbox normal Xorg based images … This mostly running under a Virtual Machine….
