GreenBANG major changes and more testing to be done.

GreenBANG has quite a few changes over the past week, some are quite major in relation to its running. I have removed Firefox from image for two reasons reduce image size and the fact without a network connection there is little point in running it. Package management too is pointless without a network connection. So I came up with a plan! When you select menu item in Labwc or use browser keybind a small script will check for a network connection and if active set up apk to allow Firefox to be installed.

Iso is still very much beta and I am getting some feedback on wifi not working. It may well be that firmware required is missing from image I am quite limited on testing on real hardware so will need more useful information to move further. Wired should work automatically.

Need to know if UEFI booting works, again I think last release had grub.cfg missing [that of course does not help!]

With Overlayfs ram usage is reduced but it still does not help low ram systems. A bare minimum of 2Gb but 4Gb if you run Firefox. Still not sure if the overlayfs is actually making a difference in terms of performance, might look at a different compression options. Think sound should be working now again needs testing on real hardware.

Will get ArchBANG updated and uploaded as well as GreenBANG image for testing. Early May I need to start working on Summer release 😉

Feedback is always welcome and so are coffee and cake….

Stay safe….
